Introduction

February 4, 2008 / by jhamilton

Hi, my name is Jared. I am a senior in the engineering department at CSU, Chico. I was born and raised in the mountains of Northern California in a small town called Weaverville. I like coffee, the outdoors, and product design. One of my hobbies is drawing. I often carry a notebook to jot down ideas for my artwork. My artwork tends to be slightly mysterious and melancholy.

I went to art school and worked as an industrial designer before moving to Chico. I worked for a biomedical research company in New Hampshire on various products such as the iBot and Segway HT. That is what inspired me to study engineering. I am excited to say that I am just about finished with a triple major in mechanical, electrical, and mechatronic engineering. Yes, it has taken a really long time.

When I was a sophomore, I started my own company and designed a paintball product line called the Q-Loader. It was one of those young entrepreneur garage startup stories. Our products were manufactured in China, so I spent about a month living in Hong Kong. I left the company about three years ago to finish my engineering degrees. I have fond memories of it and miss the people.

Anyway, most people that I am around these days only know my technical side. People that have known me longer know that there is an artistic side to me too. I added a link on my homepage to an art show I put together a few years ago. If you like it, please let me know. Comments are welcome. Thanks!
